Queerodiverse is committed to protecting the privacy, dignity, and personal information of the people who visit our website, participate in our projects, communicate with us, or engage with our resources, programs, advocacy, and community initiatives.

We recognize that some of the information people choose to share with Queerodiverse may be particularly personal or sensitive, including information related to sexual orientation, gender identity, neurodivergence, disability, health, lived experience, and experiences of discrimination or exclusion. We believe this information deserves thoughtful and responsible protection.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Queerodiverse may collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, when it may be shared, and the choices and rights available to you.

By using the Queerodiverse website or voluntarily providing information to us, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Where consent is legally required, we will request it before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information for that purpose.

1. Information We May Collect

The information Queerodiverse collects depends on how you interact with us. We aim to collect only information that is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is being requested.

Information you voluntarily provide may include your name, email address, country, organization, role, information submitted through contact forms, newsletter preferences, project participation information, feedback, correspondence, event or program registrations, and other information you choose to provide.

When participating in particular Queerodiverse projects, including the Queerodiverse 1000 Voices Project, you may also voluntarily provide information about identity, neurodivergence, disability, sexuality, gender, age range, experiences of accessibility or exclusion, community experiences, and other aspects of your lived experience.

You are encouraged not to provide information that is unnecessary for the purpose of the form or project you are participating in.

Our website and service providers may also automatically process certain technical information, such as browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages, approximate geographic information, pages visited, interactions with the website, cookie information, and similar technical data.

2. The Queerodiverse 1000 Voices Project

The Queerodiverse 1000 Voices Project is a global community listening and advocacy initiative created to hear from queer neurodivergent people about identity, accessibility, inclusion, belonging, barriers, and what our communities want to see change.

The project is currently intended for participants who are 18 years of age or older.

Participation is voluntary. Participants may skip optional questions and are encouraged to share only information they are comfortable providing.

The 1000 Voices Project may ask participants about their country, age range, queer or LGBTQ+ identity, neurodivergence, diagnosis or self-identification experience, places where they experience belonging or barriers, priorities for change, and written reflections about their experiences.

Some of this information may be considered sensitive personal information or receive additional legal protections in certain jurisdictions. Queerodiverse therefore treats information collected through the 1000 Voices Project with particular care.

3. The 1000 Voices Project Does Not Require Your Name

Queerodiverse does not require participants to provide their name in order to participate in the 1000 Voices Project.

Participants may therefore complete the project without directly identifying themselves to Queerodiverse by name. However, we do not promise absolute technical anonymity. Our website platform and other service providers may process technical information associated with website use, and participants who voluntarily provide an email address or identifying information within a written response may become identifiable.

We encourage participants who wish to remain unidentified not to include their name, workplace, school, address, social media account, or other directly identifying information in written responses.

4. Why We Collect 1000 Voices Project Information

Information submitted through the Queerodiverse 1000 Voices Project may be used to understand participant experiences, identify recurring themes and barriers, identify examples of meaningful inclusion, understand community priorities, guide Queerodiverse programs and resources, support education and advocacy, inform policy recommendations, develop organizational guidance, and contribute to public reports about what project participants have told us.

Queerodiverse may publish aggregated findings such as the proportion of participants identifying particular barriers or priorities. We may also compare broad patterns across areas such as geography, age groups, environments, or community experiences where there is sufficient participation to do so responsibly.

We will describe findings accurately. Participation in the 1000 Voices Project is voluntary and does not constitute a statistically representative sample of all queer neurodivergent people. Public reporting should therefore describe findings as experiences or views reported by project participants rather than making unsupported claims about all queer or neurodivergent people.

5. Anonymous Quotations and Voices of Queerodiversity

Participants may be asked separately whether Queerodiverse has permission to anonymously quote portions of their written responses.

Saying no to quotation does not prevent someone from participating in the 1000 Voices Project.

When permission has been provided, anonymous excerpts may be used in Queerodiverse reports, educational resources, advocacy materials, presentations, webpages, social media, the Voices of Queerodiversity initiative, or other Queerodiverse communications.

Before publishing a quotation, Queerodiverse may remove or generalize identifying information where reasonably necessary to reduce the possibility that an individual could be recognized.

We will not intentionally attribute an anonymous quotation to a participant's name, email address, or other direct identifier without separate permission.

6. Protecting Participants From Re-Identification

Even information without a person's name can sometimes become identifiable when several characteristics are combined.

When publishing 1000 Voices findings, Queerodiverse will consider the risk of unintentionally identifying participants through combinations of information such as country, age, identity, neurodivergence, occupation, community, or unusual personal circumstances.

Where appropriate, we may combine categories, withhold very small subgroup results, remove unnecessary details, paraphrase identifying contextual information, or report findings at a broader level to help protect participant privacy.

The goal of the project is to make community experiences visible, not individual participants identifiable.

7. How We Use Personal Information Generally

Outside the 1000 Voices Project, Queerodiverse may use personal information to respond to questions or messages, provide requested resources or information, administer programs and projects, manage registrations or participation, send communications someone has requested, operate and improve our website, understand how resources are being used, maintain website security, prevent spam or abuse, comply with legal obligations, and carry out the purposes explained at the time information is collected.

We will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without obtaining additional consent where required.

8. What We Will Not Do With 1000 Voices Information

Queerodiverse will not sell or rent individual 1000 Voices Project responses.

We will not use information about a participant's sexuality, gender identity, neurodivergence, disability, health, or other sensitive characteristics to target advertising to that individual.

We will not use 1000 Voices responses to determine a person's eligibility for employment, healthcare, education, insurance, financial services, government benefits, or other individual opportunities.

We will not create individual risk scores or profiles from 1000 Voices responses for commercial advertising or individualized decision-making.

We will not knowingly disclose identifiable sensitive survey responses to employers, schools, healthcare providers, governments, family members, or other outside organizations except where the participant has specifically authorized that disclosure or where disclosure is required by law.

9. Aggregated and De-Identified Information

Queerodiverse may create aggregated or de-identified information from project responses and other information we collect.

For example, we may report that a certain percentage of participating respondents identified healthcare, employment, education, sensory accessibility, or community belonging as an important issue.

Where information has been sufficiently aggregated or irreversibly anonymized so that it no longer identifies or can reasonably be linked to an individual, it may no longer be treated as personal information under applicable privacy laws.

Queerodiverse may retain and use appropriately de-identified or aggregated information for historical analysis, education, advocacy, future comparisons, organizational planning, and public-interest work.

10. Email Addresses and Staying Connected

Providing an email address to Queerodiverse is optional unless an email address is reasonably necessary for a particular service or request.

Within the 1000 Voices Project, participants may choose to provide an email address if they would like to receive project results, future participation opportunities, or other information they have specifically requested.

Where reasonably practical, contact information will be kept separate from substantive 1000 Voices responses.

Providing an email for project updates does not automatically authorize Queerodiverse to send unrelated promotional or marketing communications.

Where consent is required for electronic communications, Queerodiverse will request it. You may unsubscribe from optional email communications using the unsubscribe method provided in the communication or by contacting us.

11. Cookies, Analytics and Website Information

The Queerodiverse website may use cookies and similar technologies that allow the website and its service providers to function, maintain security, remember preferences, understand website usage, and improve the visitor experience.

Depending on the services enabled on the website, third-party service providers may also place or access cookies or similar technologies.

Where required by applicable law, visitors will be given appropriate choices regarding non-essential cookies.

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect how some website features function.

12. Squarespace and Other Service Providers

Queerodiverse uses third-party companies and technology providers to operate its website and activities. These providers may process information on our behalf when reasonably necessary to provide their services.

This may include providers used for website hosting and forms, cloud storage, email, analytics, communications, security, spam prevention, document storage, event registration, or similar organizational functions.

For example, Queerodiverse's website is hosted using Squarespace, and information submitted through Squarespace forms may be processed through Squarespace's systems. Form information may also be stored using connected services such as Google Workspace or Google Drive where Queerodiverse has configured those services.

These providers operate under their own legal obligations, privacy practices, security measures, and terms of service.

Queerodiverse seeks to use reputable service providers and to limit the information provided to them to what is reasonably necessary for the services they perform.

13. International Data Processing

Queerodiverse is a global initiative and uses internet and cloud-based technologies.

As a result, personal information may be processed or stored in countries other than the country where you live, including through third-party technology providers. Privacy and access-to-information laws in those jurisdictions may differ from the laws in your home country.

Where applicable privacy law imposes requirements relating to international transfers of personal information, Queerodiverse will take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards and service-provider arrangements.

14. When We May Share Personal Information

Queerodiverse does not disclose personal information to outside organizations simply because it may be useful or interesting to them.

We may share limited information with service providers that perform functions on our behalf, where a participant has specifically authorized a disclosure, when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, spam, security incidents, or misuse of our services, to protect the rights or safety of Queerodiverse or others where permitted by law, as part of a lawful organizational restructuring or transfer, or where disclosure is required or authorized by applicable law, court order, or legal process.

Service providers are expected to process information only for appropriate purposes connected to the services they provide.

15. Research and Partnerships

Queerodiverse may collaborate with researchers, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, community organizations, governments, advocates, or other partners on future projects.

Participation in the 1000 Voices Project does not automatically authorize Queerodiverse to provide identifiable survey responses to an outside researcher or partner.

If a future project requires identifiable personal information to be shared with a third party for a new purpose, we will seek additional consent where required.

Queerodiverse may share appropriately aggregated or de-identified findings with partners for education, policy development, advocacy, collaboration, or public-interest purposes where individuals are not reasonably identifiable.

16. Data Quality and Survey Integrity

Queerodiverse may review submissions to protect the integrity of the 1000 Voices Project and other projects.

Responses may be excluded from analysis where we reasonably determine that they are automated spam, substantially duplicated submissions, malicious attempts to manipulate results, clearly fraudulent responses, or submissions that do not meet stated participation requirements.

A response will not be excluded simply because it is critical of Queerodiverse, expresses an unpopular perspective, or describes an experience that differs from other participants.

Where project results are published, Queerodiverse may provide information about significant data-quality screening or exclusions to help readers understand how findings were prepared.

17. Information Security

Queerodiverse uses reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical safeguards appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the personal information under our control.

These may include limiting access to information to people who require it for legitimate organizational purposes, using access controls and account security measures, maintaining appropriate security practices for technology services, separating contact information from project information where reasonably practical, reviewing access to sensitive information, and securely deleting or de-identifying information when it is no longer required.

No website, email system, cloud platform, or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We therefore cannot promise absolute security, but we are committed to taking reasonable precautions proportionate to the sensitivity of the information we hold.

If a privacy or security breach occurs, Queerodiverse will assess the circumstances and take appropriate steps, including notification to affected individuals or privacy authorities where required by applicable law.

18. How Long We Keep Information

Queerodiverse retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to meet legitimate organizational needs, and to satisfy applicable legal obligations.

Different types of information may therefore have different retention periods.

Information submitted through the 1000 Voices Project may be retained while the project is active and for a reasonable period afterward to allow Queerodiverse to analyze responses, prepare reports, validate findings, respond to questions, maintain appropriate project records, and support related advocacy and educational work.

When identifiable information is no longer reasonably required, Queerodiverse may securely delete it, separate identifying information from project information, or convert the information into a de-identified or aggregated form.

De-identified reports, statistics, themes, and other information that no longer reasonably identifies an individual may be retained for longer-term educational, historical, advocacy, and organizational purposes.

19. Access, Correction and Withdrawal of Consent

Depending on your location and applicable privacy law, you may have rights concerning personal information Queerodiverse holds about you. These may include the ability to request access to personal information, request correction of inaccurate information, withdraw consent to certain future uses, request deletion in some circumstances, object to or restrict certain processing, or request information about how your personal information has been used or disclosed.

These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal exceptions.

Where processing is based on consent, withdrawing consent does not necessarily affect uses or disclosures that lawfully occurred before consent was withdrawn.

20. Anonymous Responses and Requests for Deletion

Participants should understand an important limitation of anonymous participation.

If you participate in the 1000 Voices Project without providing identifying or contact information, Queerodiverse may have no reliable way to determine which response belongs to you later.

This means we may be unable to locate, verify ownership of, correct, or delete a particular anonymous response after it has been submitted.

If information has already been irreversibly anonymized or combined into aggregate findings, it may also no longer be possible to remove an individual's contribution from previously completed analysis or published aggregated statistics.

Where a participant has provided sufficient information for us to reasonably locate and verify their personal information, we will respond to access, correction, withdrawal, or deletion requests in accordance with applicable law.

21. Additional Rights for International Visitors

Privacy rights differ around the world.

Where laws such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation or similar privacy legislation apply to Queerodiverse's processing of your information, additional rights may be available, including rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability, and withdrawal of consent.

Where required, sensitive information will be processed only where an appropriate legal basis and any additional required condition for processing are present.

Individuals may also have the right to complain to the privacy or data-protection authority responsible for their jurisdiction.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit rights provided to you by applicable privacy law.

22. Children and Young People

The Queerodiverse 1000 Voices Project is currently intended only for people aged 18 and older.

Queerodiverse does not knowingly seek to collect sensitive 1000 Voices survey information from children through the adult project.

Other Queerodiverse resources may be available to younger people where appropriate. If Queerodiverse develops projects specifically intended for children or youth, those initiatives may have separate participation information, consent processes, privacy protections, and safeguarding measures appropriate to the project and applicable law.

If we learn that information has been submitted to an adults-only project by someone who was not eligible to participate, we may remove the submission where reasonably possible.

23. Third-Party Websites and Resources

The Queerodiverse website may contain links to websites, resources, organizations, research, social media platforms, or services operated by third parties.

Queerodiverse does not control the privacy practices of those third parties. Visiting an external website is subject to that organization's own privacy policy and terms.

We encourage visitors to review the privacy practices of external services before providing them with personal information.

24. Automated Decision-Making

Queerodiverse does not use information collected through the 1000 Voices Project to make solely automated decisions about individuals that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

Technology may be used to assist with tasks such as spam detection, organization of information, data-quality review, categorization, or analysis. Where such tools are used, Queerodiverse remains responsible for using project information appropriately and for considering privacy, accuracy, and fairness.

25. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Queerodiverse may update this Privacy Policy as our website, programs, projects, technology, partnerships, or legal obligations evolve.

When material changes are made, the updated policy will be posted on this page and the Last Updated date will be changed.

Where a material change would require new consent for information already collected, Queerodiverse will seek that consent where required rather than relying solely on an updated Privacy Policy.

We believe people should be able to share their experiences without losing control over how those experiences are used. We will work to collect only what we need, explain why we need it, protect what people entrust to us, use it responsibly, and respect the choices people make about their information.

For the Queerodiverse 1000 Voices Project in particular, our commitment is simple: your experience may help shape the conversation, but your participation should never require giving up your dignity, privacy, or control over your story.
